Goodbye…Major Announcement Part 2

This announcement has been a long time coming :) After many many months of hard work I am finally ready to say goodbye to JK Photography. I have loved and nurtured this company for 7 years now. But the time has come for me to move on to bigger and better things.

Don’t worry, I am not going away :) I am thrilled to announce the launch of my brand spankin’ new business: Jen Lynne Photography! Its still me, just a new face! In lieu of this excited new change and this final blog post I am posting some of my favorite images for your viewing pleasure :)

For my current and past clients, this will not effect your current packages or contracts…just the name is changing :) In addition to that La Dolce Vita will eventually be getting a new blog home, but for now you can still find updates here.

To my family, friends and all my clients..Thank you for making these past 7 years an unforgettable experience! I look forward to working with you all for many years to come :)

Enjoy the pictures!

Film Photography-Major Annoucement #1

Some of you may remember my “Going back to my roots” blog post I did a while back about my trip to Italy and how shooting film again made me realize how much I missed it. So after a LOT of researching and analyzing and thinking about how to make this work with my business, I am finally ready to give you the first part of my big announcement! In addition to photographing in a digital format, I will now be offering a 100% film package!

Soon I will be telling you all about the joys of film and the beauty of this fine art! But you have to wait for the second part of the big announcement that is coming very soon :)

Many of you may know this, but when I started my business 7 years ago, film is all I shot on. I didn’t actually own a digital camera until about 2005/06 and even then I was still a film lover! In college, where I studied photography, I was taught that film was the ultimate in “fine art” mediums and digital was just a sell out…well I suppose times have changed a bit, right? Digital photography will, for now, be my main medium  :)

A little about the package I will be offering and the equipment I will be using:

~The package will only be a 5-7 hour package, preferably daylight only

~I will be shooting on 2-3 different types of cameras. A Canon 35mm I will still be able to use all my yummy Canon lenses with this camera), a Contax 645 Medium Format and a Mamiya Twin Lens Reflex camera (this is a vintage camera that shoot in a square format)

~Included in the package is the negatives to the film and the print rights to the scanned images.

~No photoshoping will be done to any of the images (except for dust spotting, film is known to collect dust and can show up on your images)

(as a side note, if you are interested in having me photograph another type of session on film, such as children or boudoir, please contact me)

I have spent many months working on perfecting the printing and scanning process of my images (no, I don’t do this myself, I found a fabulous lab that takes care of everything for me) and I am confident that I can deliver to you beautiful, seemless images that capture your day in a way that only film images can.

To those of you who have helped me and supported me through this process, thank you. I could not have done this with out you.

This is a pretty exclusive package. I will only be shooting 4 “all film” weddings per year and I already have one wedding booked. If you are seriously interested in exploring this as an option for your wedding please feel free to contact me to schedule a meeting.

Below are images that were shot on color film with a Contax 645 camera. None of these image have been touched in photoshop, except to add my logo.

Meet Christine: South Africa Wedding Photography

While Christine and I have never actually met in person, the social networking website,Twitter, has created the bridge between our two very different worlds and allowed us to build this new fabulous friendship! A while back Christine and I were chatting about how she really wants to come to America to shoot a wedding and I told her how I would love to go to South Africa to shoot a wedding there. We decided it would be fun to write about each other and let the world know that we would love to travel to you :)

Here is a bit about Christine :

“I’m a wedding and portrait photographer from South Africa. I started
my business 3 years ago, when I realized that I want do something I
love for the rest of my life! Photography and pretty things are my
passions! One of the greatest things about my job is that I get to
work with ordinary people and make them feel beautiful and super
special! One of my dreams would be to do international weddings. So
I’m willing to come over and shoot…just let me know when and
where! :) Have a look at my website to see more of my work. Also some
great tips and links for photographers under my “for photographers”
section.
I’d be willing to do weddings from $3000/cd only package. $4200 for
one with a coffee table book. (That incl my travel)!! “

If you haven’t ever heard of Christine, I would highly recommend checking her out: Christine’s website! This is an amazing deal and I would love to help make her dreams come true :) You can also follow Christine on Twitter here: Christine’s Twitter

Thanks for being such an amazing friend Christine, I hope we get to meet someday soon! I love your work and I know you will be a HUGE success where you are in the world :)

Wedding Photography, Grand Rapids: Nick and Cairn 9.18.09

Nick and Cairn’s wedding was just about as perfect as perfect could be! The weather was amazing, the laughter was flowing and the bling was everywhere :)

I love weddings that I get to work with some of my favorite vendors, in this case it was Jenn from Modern Day Floral, Barb from Sweet Cakes Designs and Laura from White Dress Events!! They rocked out the day in style and Cairn had put all of this together with the ease and grace of an experienced event planner! Cairn, I was totally blown away by your details, one of my favorites this year!!

As your are looking through these images you may notice in the cakes section there is a picture of a Jack Daniels bottle, please note that this is indeed a cake and not an actual bottle of Jack Daniels :) Barb, the amazing designer that she is, was able to replicate a bottle of Jack into a cake for Nick’s grooms cake :) So cleaver!

Anyway, enough mushing, enjoy the preview you guys! I seriously loved every minute I spent with you both!

Thank you to Jen from Kate Linden Studios for helping me photograph this amazing day :)
